The South Shropshire Policy Group (SSPG) was set up late last year to discuss policy issues and to input into the national Conservative Policy Forum (CPF). It does this both by responding to CPF calls on specific topics, and also by providing agreed papers to CPF based on its own identified priorities, for example a recent paper on cybersecurity written by a member of the group with expertise in the field.
As well as providing group responses to CPF calls in recent month on, for example, farming, taxes, and financial issues more widely, the group has had initial discussions on security and defence (hence the cybersecurity paper), and our next major topic being considered is health and welfare. One group member (a former GP) is currently preparing an initial discussion paper on this vital topic.
The group meets monthly, currently at the Ludlow HQ, with plenty of opportunity for email discussion between meetings, and additional zoom meetings can be arranged. You don’t need to be an ‘expert’, but you do need to believe that sensible policies are essential for the future of the party. If you are interested in taking an active part in these policy discussions, please let the office know - and we look forward to hearing from you.
